WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden has officially proclaimed winners on Friday by the U.S. Congress almost two months after the presidential election of 6 novembre.
At a joint meeting for elected representatives of the Senate and the House of Representatives, Congress stripped the 538 electoral votes from 50 states and the District of Columbia.
They confirmed the victory of the Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Joe Biden meet their Republican rivals Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, with 332 votes against 206.
The winner of the presidential election in the United States is the one who obtains an absolute majority of electoral votes, 270 voix.
The President of the House of Representatives, Republican John Boehner and Senate, Democrat Joe Biden, presided over the joint session that lasted thirty minutes.
